Australian Stem Cell HealthCare Pty Ltd (ASCH) is Australia's largest provider of private cord blood banking services including the collection, processing and cryopreservation of umbilical cord blood adult stem cells in Australia.
ASCH has a collaborative network of more than 1,200 doctors and obstetricians, over 210 hospitals and more than 100 qualified healthcare professionals who assist ASCH as cord blood collectors.
ASCH was formed in December 2008 through the merger of Biocell Pty Ltd (formed in 2005) and Cellsense Pty Ltd (formed in 2004).

Alastair Lucas Alastair is Chairman of the Macfarlane Burnet Institute for Medical Research and Public Health and sits on the Dean's Advisory Board for Monash University, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. Alastair is also Deputy Chair of the Market Policy Group of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, a member of the Takeovers Panel and on the board of Fauna & Flora International Australia. Alastair is Vice-Chairman of Goldman Sachs JBWere and Managing Director and Co-Chairman of Goldman's Investment Banking Division. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs JBWere, Alastair was at Macquarie Bank for 22 years, where he worked in various capacities, culminating as head of Macquarie's Corporate Finance Group and then Chairman, Investment Banking. |

Peter Littlewood Peter joined Australian Stem Cell HealthCare in 2010 after spending twenty years working in the materials science field. He has performed a variety of roles in Australia, the UK, Europe and Asia. Most recently he was the Vice President of Sales for Huntsman Advanced Materials based in Hong Kong. He has extensive business and commercial experience, numerous international contacts that enable him to keep abreast of new developments overseas and a strong commitment to supporting the development of new technologies and the promotion of science. He is a Biologist by training, with a Postgraduate degree from the London School of Economics and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Associate Professor Mark Kirkland MBBS, BMedSci, PhD, FRCPA Associate Professor Kirkland is a stem cell researcher at the Department of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences, The University of Melbourne, Geelong. He is a specialist Haematologist with 26 years experience as a medical practitioner, and 31 years experience in stem cell research. He has extensive experience in tissue banking with Australian Red Cross Blood Service, both public and private cord blood banking, and bone banking. He was a member of the committee that developed the Australian (NPAAC) guidelines for Haemopoietic Stem Cells. His current research interests include stem cell expansion and reprogramming, with particular emphasis on developing novel approaches to the production of insulin-producing cells and cardiac cells from cord blood stem cells, for the treatment of diabetes and heart disease, respectively. His laboratory is also collaborating with Deakin University in the development of new tissue engineering techniques for the production of bone and cartilage.
